New York Fashion Week: Men’s is Happening!
When Fashion Week arrives in NYC, you can always expect to spot celebs, style bloggers, and fashion addicts hoping to get noticed from all walks of life. In a city that's known for pushing the envelope of fashion primarily for women, its about time that the guys have their moment to shine. While fashion trends for ladies have been incorporating aspects of masculine style for years, this time, the gentlemen are finally getting a show of their own.
With the arrival of the first ever New York Fashion Week: Men's this July, both established and up-and-coming designers are set to prove that men's fashion holds just as much variety, and importance as women's.
Though New York is usually a city ahead of the trends, it has fallen behind in waiting until now to give men's fashion a room of its own. In 2012, London was the first major fashion capital to have a standalone men's fashion week, and it was a roaring success that marked the beginning of a new tradition.
Billy Reid, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Public School, Tommy Hilfiger, Rag & Bone and countless other big names will showcase their men's collections this Spring in New York and the number of participants is only expected to grow.
Not only is the debut of a fashion week strictly for men's clothing a brilliant marketing move, it also sends a clear message that men's fashion is equally influential as women's. With approval from the CDFA, men's fashion is officially a force to be reckoned with. Securing sponsorships from powerhouses like Amazon Fashion and Shinola, fully establish the July event as one that's here to stay.
For Spring 2016 Fashion, let's hear it for the gentlemen!
