Private Policy Spring/Summer 2021
Private Policy has had a way of really using color to accent and enhance their models in previous lines. The Spring Summer 2021 collection is much more relaxed with its use of color than the previous lines produced. The emphasis is on the thickness of the fabric or the silhouette of the apparel itself, giving more emphasis on the models than the actual clothes, fitting the entire message that they were trying to get across in the first place. The designers use geometric accents to give a very subtle eye-catching accent that is not overpowering and is easy to comprehend. This continues to make the wearer more important than the clothes.
The chunky jewelry is edgy, fun, and professional. The thickness of the chain in look 21 gives off a steam, cyberpunk vibe. The off-shoulder strap on the tank is innovative. The whole Spring Summer 2021 collection finds a ton of unique and fun ways to accent their clothing.
The jackets with straps are an amazing addition. No one wants to wrap their jacket around their waist or hold it when it’s not in use. The sash in look 17 is a phenomenal way to bring in a fun and striking, three-dimensional, recycled accent.
Look 2 has so much contrast. Sheer versus thick. Baggy versus slim. Leather cargo pants vs a light strappy shoe. Who doesn't love a good juxtaposition of contradiction? Everything about look 6 feels like the matrix. Sheer, slim, dark, mysterious.
The Aphrodite slip dress is on a vaporwave acid trip, which contrasts largely with the mellow softness of the rest of the collection. The entire build of the dress stands out as well: the neckline, the straps. It plays with color a lot more than the other pieces. The Aphrodite accent in look 7 is so well done and blends in effortlessly with the rest of the collection. Well done line work can work for years.
