Carlos Campos merged the crispness of a tailored fit with a richness of flavors inspired by Honduran coffee farms in his debut runway show at New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Influenced by his Latino heritage and the elegance of coffee foremen in Honduras, that he witnessed on travels through the country, he creates a look balanced evenly in both utility and luxury.
The style of Carlos Campos’ new collection combines elements of pragmatic uniform with impeccably detailed tailoring; clearly seen in his line of cropped trousers, long overcoats, tailored box jackets, and intricate capes.
His designs feature a subdued color palette that evoke the warm colors of various stages of coffee production with tans, beiges, and creams as well as a range of blues, from deep navy to bright cobalt, a known signature color of Campos’ from prior works.
The showcased collection was further refined by a rich selection of textures, as Campos brought designs made of cotton velveteens and brushed wool textiles to the catwalk. The myriad of elements at play in the collection, include the sensibility of a worker, the authority of an owner, restrained colors, and smart fabrics, which lend an overarching refinement to the assemblage.
