General Idea FW16
At New York Fashion Week: Men’s, designer Bumsuk Choi introduced a lineup that showed a little relaxation, while encompassing darker neutrals that have become a signature staple. From beginning to end, the lineup presented contemporary effects, while showcasing the original works that are expected from the brand.
Wide arrays of oversized coats were displayed with modular shapes such as circles and squares embellishing the outside. Oversized, long outerwear brought a sense of elegance to the lineup. Leather outerwear accompanied classical twists on shirts with high neck lines. Bomber style jackets added to the modish theme that was presented.
Adorning both outerwear and pants, were a variety of zipper styles that created the modernistic vibe that was felt. Cropped pants were paired with pulled up socks which gave the lineup edginess. Substantial hats and sunglasses accessorized the outfits, offering a unique style to the collection. A minimal, darker tone was seen in the colors of the showcase. Neutral tones gave the lineup just enough light to add a sense of variety.
The presentation showed how combining modernism with elegance can bring forth statements that speak volumes. Choi has been known to experiment with his designs and certainly touted a new, modern edge to his works of art. The styles moved from a darker, cutting-edge look to a sophisticated, chic design that displayed a wide range of fashion purpose.
