Perry Ellis SS17
Perry Ellis took part in New York Fashion Week: Men's on July 11th, launching their Spring/Summer 17 collection. A mix of classic navy blue and khaki hues with the occasional pop of color and patterns with a tropical feel: the collection was distinctive, to say the least.
The thought process behind the mix of bold and timeless comes from creative director Michael Maccari. He wanted the collection to convey what's going on outside the fashion world culturally, with a bit of social and political influence.
Not only did he use the collection itself to create an impact, but models also skipped the traditional walk down the runway and instead stood in an industrial space with a nod to the florals seen in the collection.
Maccari achieved the diverse feel he wanted by putting a vibrant twist on the typical pieces and styles Perry Ellis is known for. One model wore a navy and olive bomber jacket featuring a delicate yet charming floral detail with matching relaxed fit trousers, both paired with a simple olive colored knit to bring the look together.
Layers were also prominent throughout the collection with several models sporting bomber jackets as well as jackets tied around their waist, each in slightly varying neutral shades. One stand out look was a basic light gray, relaxed fit suit and khaki knit, something that comes a dime a dozen in fashion but was set apart from the rest thanks to the tropical vibe that Maccari was so fond of this season.
This collection makes achieving an on trend yet casual look nearly effortless, and we're loving it.
