Carlos Campos SS17

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Carlos Campos’ new Spring/Summer 2017 collection, which premiered at New York Fashion Week: Men’s. It was honestly a breath of fresh air when compared to other runway shows. Too many designers may try too hard when they are coming up with their new collections. In their rush to stand out from the crowd, these designers often gives us clothing that may lack practical application. The new collection from Carlos Campos does not fall victim to this trend.

Instead, Campos has done his best to give us a utilitarian collection of clothing I could see myself wearing about town. The lines are simple, and the colors are muted. I for one am glad to see a designer have the courage to recognize that less is more when it comes to fashion. The three standout colors that are part of this new collection from Campos are olive, navy and white.

Just three simple colors, but in this talented designer’s hands they are used to create incredibly beautiful pieces. Many of the items in the collection are monotone or feature just two colors. However, they are anything but boring.

The olive-colored selections give a little bit of military or adventure feel, and they really give me a sense of excitement when I see them. I feel like I could put together plenty of eye-catching looks with minimal effort or head out to tackle any adventure that comes my way.

As well as using mostly solid colors, Carlos Campos also used some interesting graphic prints in a few of the numbers. The prints are subtle, which is a nice change from the busy designs that have seemed to be all the rage recently.

Overall, I think this new Spring/Summer 2017 collection from Carlos Campos is a great success. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more from this talented designer in the coming seasons and feel honored to have attended his runway show two seasons in a row.
